As you may have heard, GiveBIG is on Wednesday May 2, and is a community-wide day of giving that will increase the size of your donation to the Swedish Medical Center Foundation. The goal of the Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG event is to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations who make our region a healthier and more vital place to live. Last year during GiveBIG, $4.1 million was raised to support over 900 nonprofits in our community. We plan to be a part of this success again in 2012!
How does GiveBIG work? Each donation made through The Seattle Foundation's website to the any of the 1,300 profiled non-profit organizations (including Swedish Medical Center Foundation) between midnight and midnight (Pacific Time) on May 2, 2012 will receive a pro-rated portion of the matching funds (or "stretch") pool. The amount of the "stretch" depends on the size of the stretch pool and how much is raised in total donations on GiveBIG day. For example, if a nonprofit organization receives 3 percent of the total donations during GiveBIG, then it will receive 3 percent of the stretch pool.
Simply go to our page on The Seattle Foundation’s Giving Center, and you may designate how your donation is allocated by entering your preference in the “Comment” field on the payment page. Designations can include:
Swedish Heart and Vascular Institute
MS Center at Swedish
True Family Women’s Cancer Center
Swedish Cancer Institute
Thank you in advance for your support of the Swedish Foundation through GiveBIG! With your help, we will continue to improve the health and well-being of each person we serve. Visit Swedish Medical Center’s GiveBIG page to give online today!
